cvrenna ::: Favorites The way I look at it, a guitars a guitar. Sure, there are differences such as oh, pickup style, tuning machines, or whatever, but if you're good enough you shhould be able to play with anything. 07-07-31 05:56:00 _____________________________________________________
joelbs1 ::: Favorites cvrenna. A classical guitar is played WAYYYY different than a regular steel string acoustic or electric. Yeah, you can use a classical guitar to play anything else cause it is basicaly the same thing. But the way a classical guitar is ment to be played, is WAY WAY different. I am a classical guitarist, I would know. Classical guitar invovles various complicated techniques. It is also fingerpicking. NOT with a pick. 07-07-31 13:10:06 _____________________________________________________
joelbs1 ::: Favorites Go check out some Sabicas videos. You'll see what I mean. He's Flamenco, its a little different than classical playing do to some technical differences. But, basically, the same thing. 07-07-31 13:11:12 _____________________________________________________
cvrenna ::: Favorites Yeah. I mean I know that but I have 12 guitars and I play llike crazy. I mean sure there are different styles of playing for different guitars but personally I think if you are good enough you should be able to go from a classical guitar to an electric and play well on both. Know what I mean? 07-07-31 14:24:45 _____________________________________________________
joelbs1 ::: Favorites yeah, true. I play a lot too. I play classical music, and I play in a surf/punk band. So, I pretty much play all-around guitar. But, there is a reason classical players dont play on an steel string guitar. IT HURTS! Steel strings can really damage your finger nails. Also, Classical guitars have a wider neck. More suited for fingerpicking. 07-07-31 19:08:02 _____________________________________________________
joelbs1 ::: Favorites My point is, Django couldn't and didn't, play classical. Thats why I rank him under his own category. Classical guitar is sooo much harder than regular steel string guitar. You should try it sometime, you'd see what I mean. If you want examples of what Im talking about, just click on my name, and watch the classical guitar videos I have. You still wont fully understand untill you've tried classical guitar for yourself. 07-07-31 19:11:05 _____________________________________________________
XTWBMU ::: Favorites Most classical guitars have necks like railroad tracks, which make it harder to play in itself...as for Django and any of the other greats not being able to play classical is a bad joke...! 07-08-01 08:52:46 _____________________________________________________
elliotlovesfox ::: Favorites lol necks like railroad tracks, yeh thats tru, gypsys like galf jazz and classical but, and jazz guitars have heaps low action usually, ah dnt know much bout the genre 07-08-01 09:41:27 _____________________________________________________
XTWBMU ::: Favorites If you think Jazz players know little about classical, better check out Robert Conti on the "Tube"...Wow... 07-08-01 10:17:19 _____________________________________________________ |
