Cale does solo stuff yet- his opener is usually Venus in Furs. Reed put out a CD of meditation music last year and Moe as someone else said- lives in GA.

Yule isn't an accepted member by the two most famous members- Cale and Reed. Durring the reunion, Morrison wanted him to round out the sound on bass so that Cale could play viola, piano, organ, or one of the other insurments he played, but Reed and Cale said a flat out no.

Moe lives in Georgia. I met her daughter at the U of GA and raved about her mother's band. She told me a year later that she hadn't really paid attention to it until before my raving. I was excited to hear this, naturally.

Hah. Sterling Morrison's comment about Venus in Furs is so true. Even now, you can't really find anyone that sounds/sounded like that.

...meant to say this bit first: I love the Velvets! And I remember seeing this documentary in '86 and being completely blown away. But one thing I cant understand is why Doug Yule is completely written out of the Velvet Undergrounds history. Fans and critics may be divided as to how important his contribution to the bands legacy is but He was in the band for a longer portion of their recording career than John Cale....

....And considering Doug Yule did (most) lead vocals & played most of the instruments (incl drums) on Loaded (Oh Sweet Nuthin' - anyone?)it seems odd that he is not even mentioned ?? To put this in perspective, Nico only sang on 3 songs. And while I admit that Nico and particularly John Cale are an intrinsic part of the Velvets history was Doug so insignificant so as not to be mentioned??? I reckon it is pure editorial fascism to write him out of the bands history. Any thoughts?

I think the optimistic aspect is that many artists are willing to examine depressing subjects. Then, other people can realize that these experiences happen to everyone and that they are worth discussing. It seems to me that Lou Reed and others chronicle the tragedy they witness because they think it should be looked at, not to exploit it but to try and understand it.

"Amfitamineheads" In that years there was "Pervetine" Mick Jagger is naming it on the LP Exille on Mainstreet. For some years it was there on the market and begin '70ths it was gone. This cristal look al like was working for 10 hour. It get you hihg in the sky. I believe that a lot of music was made on that powder.

Yeah, exactly. Depression is part of life, the important thing is to harness it. "It is better to have loved and lost than to have never loved at all." Mr William Shakespeare.
