Description:

Hello it's Monday, July 30, 2007. I'm Rebecca Field with a UPI entertainment update. Actor Eddie Murphy is reportedly engaged. Murphy's personal assistant says he popped the question to his girlfriend, Tracey Edmonds last Wednesday. OK! Magazine says he proposed to her with a Cartier yellow diamond ring. The actor starting dating Edmonds about 10 months ago. Several celebrities gathered over the weekend to show their love for baseball. About 75,000 fans attended the baseball hall of fame induction ceremony yesterday...welcoming players Cal Ripken and Tony Gwynn to the famous museum. Actor Richard Gere and his son Homer were there to show their support. John Travolta and his wife Kelly Preston also attended the event. There was no wedding this weekend for R&B star Usher and his girlfriend Tameka Foster. The ceremony set for Saturday was reportedly cancelled at the last minute. Sources say the couple, who are expecting a baby in the fall, had been going through a rough time. They apparently were having mixed opinions about the wedding. The New York Post says about 70 to 100 guests were expected to attend the event, scheduled to take place in Southampton, New York. One of TV's favorite animated families is a huge hit on the big screen. "The Simpsons Movie" grabbed the number one spot at U.S. box offices, bringing in more than 71 million dollars in ticket sales over the weekend. "I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry" took the second spot. And the wizard tales "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix" took number 3. ABC's "Ugly Betty" and the film "Pan's Labyrinth" are big winners following the weekend's Imagen Awards. The annual event honors the positive portrayal of the Hispanic community in the entertainment industry. "Ugly Betty" took best prime-time show, and the program's star America Ferrera grabbed best TV actress. Ana Ortiz won best supporting actress. "Pan's Labyrinth" was honored as best picture and the film's young star Ivana Baquero was named best actress. That's all for now. Thanks for watching today's entertainment update.
