MSfeller ::: Favorites 2007-11-23 04:48:52 Thanks! Also, another point I'd like to make is: why make it about Northerners freeing blacks, and the South opressing them? What about the Indians that they (Union Army) were not enslaving, but slaughtering them and the fact that that 5 major Native American nations were fighting for the Confederacy and AGAINST Yankee ethnic cleansing of Indians? Why is that NOT mentioned? Is the Negro superior than an Indian now? No, it's just manipulation of history, Yankee style! __________________________________________________
thorfinn11 ::: Favorites 2007-11-18 07:26:55 the south must rise again and set them free __________________________________________________
msdawn84 ::: Favorites 2007-11-15 10:52:00 yes they were and actually, one of the reasons for the war was a fight over california ...thank you for comments thats a great point. __________________________________________________
MSfeller ::: Favorites 2007-11-15 03:35:49 That's true, but did you know that the California population was sympathetic to the Confederacy back then? More surprisingly, even Washington DC's as well! __________________________________________________
3rdconfederate ::: Favorites 2007-11-13 22:37:54 I think one of the best ways to get the truth out is at reenactments when the classes come on Friday. They usually have a question like "what are you fighting for?" and if you're prepared, you can give them the truth they rarely hear in a believable, non-threatening manner. We're in California, so I think the Yankee version prevails. At least that was what I always heard and believed until REAL recently when I started reenacting. __________________________________________________
nomadak47 ::: Favorites 2007-11-12 22:11:41 Very well done--let the truth be told. __________________________________________________

3rdconfederate ::: Favorites 2007-11-08 22:43:44 I assume from the tag that is Johnny Horton? It is a wonderful rendition, catching the bittersweet image of someone coming home, but there is not much left. The celebrations are definitely muted. Keep up the good work Deo Vindice __________________________________________________
